Healthy Fuel for School Tomorrow Please!

Dear Children and Families,

Reminders:
-Please return library books
-Please return home reading books

There will be a charge for books damaged or not returned. Thank you for being careful with our books!

Important Words:

POWER WORDS:              went,  I’m,  about,  here,  want
These are words we are still learning to read and spell.

ACADEMIC WORDS:         estimate  fruit and vegetables  grains   dairy   meat and alternatives
These are words that we are learning to understand the meaning of.

Today:

During math we estimated.  We noticed that our pinky finger is about 1cm wide so we can use it to help us estimate how long something is.  Do you have anything in your house that is about 5cm, 20cm or 90cm?

During writing today we created our own piece and had to reread and check our work for finger spaces and punctuation.  Keeping our writing neat and using punctuation helps the reader understand our message.

We played a relay race during word work.  Ask me how we practiced our power words.

We read to self and read to someone today.  We practiced being fluent readers.  We need to REREAD to be fluent readers who read at the right speed and use expression.

We played Dr. Feel Good in gym with Mrs Quilley and Doggie Doggie in music with Mrs McBride.

During health we talked about the Canada Food Guide.  Ask me about the Healthy Food Rainbow and let me help you pack my lunch and snacks please.

Tomorrow’s Class Leader: Roland (bring something to share with us that is small and could fit inside Ms MacMillan’s Egg and have 2 clues ready to help us guess what is inside)

  1. A healthy food rainbow has all the colours related to food like green is Veges n fruits, yellow one is grain, blue one is dairy, red one is protein like eggs meat etc. Retaj
