Team 72 are great writers!!

Today:

We did reading today.  We read with ourselves and read to someone else.

We had gym today.  Please share what you did in skipping today.

In writing, we worked really hard on our winter tree writing!

In Math, we continued practicing estimating with larger numbers.  We also tried to challenge ourselves in our math games by adding with larger numbers and subtracting single digits.   

In Science, we shared with our table groups what type of fort we would like to build a model of.  We continued to talk about the engineering design process:  ASK, IMAGINE, PLAN, CREATE, IMPROVE.

Ms. MacMillan will see you tomorrow and Thursday. J There is no school Friday.  Ms. Collins will see you next Monday and Tuesday.

Wednesday class leader is Declan.  Remember to bring a stuffie to share with the class.

In Math, we were practicing estimating larger numbers.  What were the ways we were counting after we made an estimation?

In Science, we talked about all the different types of forts we have made and the materials we used to make them.  Then we read the book ‘The Tree House that Jack Built’ by Bonnie Verburg.  We ended the class talking about the ‘Engineering Design Process’.  Please share with your parents anything you remember from our discussion J

Welcoming in the Year of the Rooster

Gung Hay Fat Choy!  Happy New Year!




Reminders:

HOME READING:  Try to visualize what is happening in your books this weekend.  Use your five senses to make a movie in your mind.
-Please keep the toys at home.  If you are the class leader you can bring one item to share.  All other toys must stay at home.
-Return Scholastic orders.

Ask me what we did during music.

In social studies we learned about the traditions and celebrations in the Chinese Community.  Ask me about the amazing assembly put on by the Kindergarten kids as well as martial artists.

In math we used pictures numbers and words to solve an everyday math problem.  Ask me how many performers were at Cranston School.

Monday’s Class Leader: Xavier (remember to bring a stuffy)

Ninjas and Treasure Hunters

Dear Children and Families,

Happy Chinese New Year, the year of the rooster! Cranston school is celebrating Chinese New Year this Friday January 27. Please wear RED to bring in the new year. Red means good luck. 





Reminders:
HOME READING:  Use your 5 senses to visualize what is happening in the book you read.
-It’s not as cold but very wet!!  Please dress in clothes that can keep me warm and DRY!
-Please return Scholastic book order

We wrote about our connections and questions and visualized from the story Just One Goal! By Robert Munsch. 

In word work we talked about words that change when they end in a bossy e.

In math we showed what we know about adding and subtracting.  We also played a game called And and Makes.

Ask me about Mission Impossible in gym.

In social studies we tried to follow someone else’s map to find a hidden stuffy.
